Two young girls from Dallas—Lila Bonner, 9, and Eloise Peck, 8—were confirmed dead after the devastating July 4 flash floods in Central Texas. The best friends were cabinmates at Camp Mystic in Kerr County and went missing during the disaster.
Lila’s family confirmed her passing on July 5, followed by Eloise’s family the next day. Eloise’s mother described her daughter as a sweet, animal-loving soul. A third Dallas girl, Hadley Hanna, was still missing as of July 6.
Tributes poured in online, with communities across Texas sharing prayers. Alive11 reporter Kaitlyn Ross wrote the girls “died together and will never be forgotten.” OKCM Search and Rescue reported 11 campers and one counselor were still missing.
By July 6, over 50 people had died in the floods, with the toll expected to rise.
