Woman Dyes Her Dog Bright Red to Prevent Theft — The Internet Can’t Agree
A woman on TikTok is stirring up debate after dyeing her dog fire-engine red — and not for fashion. Chloe, the owner of a 2-year-old Great Pyrenees named Dandy, says she did it to stop thieves from targeting her rare breed pup.
In a viral video, Chloe explained that dogs like Dandy are often stolen because of their rarity. Her solution? Make him stand out so much that no one would dare try — or if they did, he’d be easy to spot. “No one’s going to steal a giant red dog,” she joked.
The dye she used is pet-safe and vegan, and Chloe claims the bold color actually makes Dandy more approachable — especially to kids. Many viewers loved the idea, calling it clever and saying Dandy seems totally unbothered. “He looks like Clifford the Big Red Dog — adorable and happy,” one commenter wrote.
But not everyone’s on board. Some critics called the move unnecessary and accused Chloe of using her dog for attention. Others raised concerns about animal welfare, even though Chloe insists the dye is harmless and temporary.

Despite the controversy, Dandy became a TikTok sensation, racking up more than 10 million likes. But recently, his bright red coat has started to fade, with newer posts showing him back to his natural snowy white.
Whether people see it as genius or gimmick, Chloe and Dandy definitely got the internet talking.
