Leslie Howe stopped her kids from touching a furry creature at Gwinnett County Park—a venomous “pus worm” caterpillar.

Its sting causes pain, nausea, and swelling, especially dangerous for young kids. Found from Florida to North Carolina, these caterpillars often fall from trees or attract curious children.

Parents should warn kids to avoid unknown bugs and seek medical help if stung.
