Elon Musk has publicly backed the idea of impeaching former President Donald Trump and replacing him with Vice President J.D. Vance, 40, following a heated fallout between the two.
The controversy began when commentator Ian Miles Cheong posted on X, “President vs Elon. Who wins? My money’s on Elon. Trump should be impeached and JD Vance should replace him.” Musk simply replied, “Yes.”
Musk also criticized Trump’s economic policies, warning that the former president’s proposed tariffs could trigger a recession later this year. “The Trump tariffs will cause a recession in the second half of this year,” he wrote.
His comments come after Musk made the explosive claim that Trump is named in the Epstein files. The feud escalated when Musk threatened to shut down the SpaceX missions that currently transport NASA astronauts and supplies to the International Space Station.
That move followed Trump’s own threat to revoke all federal contracts with Musk’s companies. The former president accused Musk of having “gone CRAZY!” and claimed he had forced the SpaceX CEO out of the political spotlight.
Steve Bannon, a longtime Trump ally, took it a step further—calling for Musk, who was born in South Africa, to be deported.
