Back in 2013, Australia Zoo welcomed two rare Sumatran tiger cubs, Spot and Stripe — a remarkable moment, as many don’t survive in captivity. Their early lives were lovingly documented in the BBC series Tigers About the House, where caretaker Giles Clark became their devoted guardian.

Now known as Hunter and Clarence, the brothers have grown into strong adults. Despite Hunter losing his eyesight due to a genetic condition, he continues to thrive with expert care. Clarence has even become a father at Taronga Zoo, helping secure the future of their endangered species.

With fewer than 350 Sumatran tigers left in the wild, their story is a powerful reminder of the impact compassion and conservation can have — even in the face of extinction.
