Charles Cyphers, best known for his role as Sheriff Leigh Brackett in Halloween, has passed away at 85 in Tucson, Arizona. His manager, Chris Roe, remembered him as “a kind and loving man” whose stories always brought joy.
Born in Niagara Falls, New York, in 1939, Cyphers studied theater in Los Angeles and went on to build a long, respected career in film and television. He frequently collaborated with director John Carpenter on cult classics like Assault on Precinct 13, The Fog, and Escape from New York.
In 2021, he made a touching return to his iconic Halloween role after 40 years, calling the experience “shocking but amazing.”
