Angela was a single mom juggling two jobs, and every day—rain or shine—she walked two miles to get her son Jacob to football practice. They didn’t own a car, but she never let that stop them. When a coach once asked why she did it, Angela simply said, “Dreams don’t wait for a ride.”

Her commitment didn’t go unnoticed. NFL legend Peyton Manning heard about her story and surprised her with a minivan and a handwritten note, calling her the “real MVP.” That van changed their lives. Angela was able to work better hours, get some much-needed rest, and drive Jacob to football clinics.

At one of those clinics, a scout spotted Jacob’s talent. Soon after, he earned a partial scholarship to a private high school. Later, when Angela got hurt and couldn’t work, Jacob stepped up—taking a job to help cover the bills.

Eventually, Angela found a more stable job, and Jacob was accepted into college.

At graduation, Jacob honored his mom in a short speech: “She gave me everything… and a van that became our lifeline.”
