Ronald Fenty, the father of global music star Rihanna, has died at the age of 70 in Los Angeles following a brief illness. The exact cause and date of his passing have not been publicly disclosed.
Rihanna and her father had a complicated and often strained relationship. Over the years, they experienced several public disputes, including a 2019 lawsuit Rihanna filed over the use of the “Fenty” name in business ventures—a case that was ultimately settled out of court.
Despite their differences, the two reconciled at times. Ronald had previously expressed his gratitude for Rihanna’s support during his health battles, especially when he contracted COVID-19 in 2020.
He also spoke fondly of Rihanna’s journey into motherhood with rapper A$AP Rocky and appeared proud of her accomplishments.
Ronald Fenty struggled with addiction and personal issues that affected his relationship with Rihanna throughout her life. Family members are reportedly gathering in California. As of now, Rihanna’s representatives have not issued a public statement regarding his passing.
