Researchers Discover Rarely Spotted Creatures

Mt. Gibson Wildlife Sanctuary is celebrating the first baby western quolls, or chuditch, spotted safely in their mothers’ pouches—a sign that reintroduction efforts are paying off.

Once nearly lost to habitat loss and predators, these cat-sized hunters are now beginning to thrive thanks to careful conservation work.

For the team, the births are a hopeful reminder that nature can recover when given a chance.
