MS-13 Gang Leader Extradited to U.S. as FBI Captures Another “Most Wanted” Fugitive

Federal authorities have announced the extradition of Francisco Javier Roman-Bardales, a senior figure in the violent MS-13 gang, from Mexico to the United States. Roman-Bardales faces serious charges tied to drug trafficking, extortion, and orchestrating violent attacks against civilians and rival gang members in both the U.S. and El Salvador.

The extradition was announced by FBI Director Kash Patel, who also revealed that Roman-Bardales is the third fugitive on the FBI’s “Ten Most Wanted” list to be captured in recent weeks.

Roman-Bardales’ arrest follows the January 30, 2025, capture of Arnoldo Jimenez, who had been on the run for first-degree murder charges, and the January 25 arrest of Donald Eugene Fields II, a fugitive wanted for child rape and sex trafficking.

Federal officials emphasized the administration’s commitment to public safety and law enforcement, stating that aggressive efforts will continue to bring dangerous criminals to justice.

“These arrests send a strong message,” a statement from the administration read. “The United States will pursue those who threaten our communities—no matter where they hide.”
