Utah Boy’s “Ice Cold Beer” Stand Sparks Police Visit—and a Whole Lot of Praise
At just 11 years old, Seth from Brigham City, Utah, has already proven he’s got a knack for business—and marketing that grabs attention.
Seth set up a small roadside stand to earn some extra cash. But instead of the typical lemonade, he decided to sell something a little different: root beer. His sign, however, raised some eyebrows. It read boldly: “Ice Cold Beer.”
That got a few neighbors concerned enough to call the police, thinking an underage kid might actually be selling alcohol.
Officers showed up to investigate—but what they found was clever, not criminal. Turns out, Seth was selling root beer, not beer. The word “root” was printed in small green letters above the word “beer,” so unless you looked closely, it was easy to miss.
Rather than getting upset, the Brigham City Police Department was impressed by Seth’s sense of humor and marketing smarts.
In fact, they praised him—and even bought some root beer themselves.
“This kid is going to be a marketing genius one day,” one Facebook user wrote. “He caught people’s attention, got police protection, and probably made a ton of sales!”
Another commenter added:
“He’s tidy, polite, and hardworking. With creativity like that—and a supportive community—he’s bound to go far.”
The police department also stood by the concerned residents who called them.
“We want people to feel comfortable reaching out if they see something that looks suspicious. No harm done, and no offense taken,” they said in a statement.
In the end, Seth’s idea turned out to be a win for everyone. The police handled it with good humor, the community got a laugh—and some root beer—and Seth got a lesson in entrepreneurship that’s already paying off.
Who knows what creative idea he’ll come up with next?
