WEST MONROE, LA — May 25
Phil Robertson, the beloved founder of Duck Commander and head of the famous Duck Dynasty family, has passed away at the age of 79. His family confirmed the heartbreaking news on Sunday.
Remembering a Man of Faith and Family
Phil’s passing comes just months after the family revealed he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Back in December, the Robertson family shared on their Unashamed podcast that Phil was in the early stages of the illness. Sadly, his condition progressed faster than expected.
Jase Robertson, Phil’s son, shared a heartfelt message on social media:
“My dad has gone to be with the Lord today! He will be missed, but we know he is in good hands. Our family is good because God is very good! We will see him again!”
An Outpouring of Love
Phil’s granddaughter, Sadie Robertson Huff, paid tribute on Instagram with touching family photos and memories spanning the family’s rise to fame.
Willie Robertson and his wife Korie posted a joint message saying:
“We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord. Thank you for the love and prayers of so many whose lives have been impacted by his life.”
The family also noted that while they are holding a private service, a public celebration of life will be announced in the coming days.
A Legend Born in Louisiana
Phil Robertson was a true original. Born and raised in Louisiana, he founded Duck Commander in 1972, creating the now-iconic duck call that launched a multi-million-dollar outdoor empire.
His hard work and ingenuity led to the hit A&E series Duck Dynasty, which premiered in 2012 and ran for 11 seasons. The show brought Phil, his wife Miss Kay, and their extended family into millions of homes, capturing hearts with its mix of humor, faith, and outdoor adventure.
The Robertson family’s tight-knit bond and Southern values turned them into household names, spawning several successful spinoffs like Jep & Jessica: Growing the Dynasty and Duck Family Treasure.
The Dynasty Continues
In a full-circle moment, A&E recently announced a brand-new series, Duck Dynasty: The Revival, which is set to premiere this summer — a powerful reminder of the legacy Phil leaves behind.
A Life Rooted in Faith
Phil married Miss Kay when she was just 17, shortly after the birth of their first son. Through highs and lows — and even moments of controversy — he remained unapologetically committed to his faith and family.
Beyond the screen, Phil authored several books and was a passionate advocate for Christian values. He never shied away from his beliefs and often credited God for his family’s success.
Saying Goodbye, Holding on to Hope
In an emotional April podcast, Jase shared,
“We’re making him comfortable, and we’re doing the best we can. I think that’s just what you do.”
As tributes pour in from fans and friends across the country, the Robertson family says their faith continues to carry them through. Phil Robertson wasn’t just a TV star — he was a husband, father, grandfather, and faithful man who touched millions.
He may be gone from this world, but his legacy will live on through his family, his faith, and the countless lives he impacted.
