Newborn Found Abandoned in Shoebox on Córdoba Street Amid Freezing Temperatures

A newborn baby was discovered abandoned on a street in Córdoba, Argentina, and is now recovering at a local hospital after being rescued by police.

The infant was found naked inside a shoebox early Saturday morning near the intersection of Alem and San Fernando Avenues, in the city’s General Mosconi neighborhood. Temperatures at the time had dropped below 41°F (5°C), raising serious concerns about the baby’s exposure to the cold.

Neighbors spotted the baby and immediately alerted authorities. Officers arrived at the scene and quickly transported the child to the Children’s Hospital in a patrol car. According to hospital staff, the baby showed early signs of hypothermia upon arrival but is now receiving medical care.

Hospital officials have notified the courts, and an investigation is underway. As of now, there is no information regarding the baby’s mother or the circumstances that led to the child being abandoned.
