A 24-year-old man, identified as Paiz, was arrested by law enforcement in a dramatic and emotional scene after allegedly stabbing his mother, 53-year-old Kattia de los Ángeles Jara Sancho, to death.
Video footage from the arrest shows Paiz crying and yelling as he was taken into custody. One bystander, initially unaware of what had happened, asked, “What’s going on here?” Officers responded, “He’s going to pay for what he did. He killed his mother.” A shocked woman nearby added, “What do you mean he killed Kattia? Oh my God.”
Authorities say the attack took place Saturday afternoon. According to reports, the victim had been living in fear of her son, who was known to be aggressive and possibly struggling with drug use. Paiz allegedly pressured his mother for money on a regular basis.
He is now in the custody of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and is expected to appear before the Heredia Court, where a judge will decide what legal actions to take next.
