Liverpool star Diogo Jota, 28, dies in car crash just 2 weeks after wedding

The soccer world is heartbroken after Liverpool forward Diogo Jota, 28, and his younger brother, André Silva, 26, died in a car accident near Zamora, Spain.

Jota, a key player for both Liverpool and Portugal’s national team, had just married his wife, Rute Cardoso, two weeks earlier. The couple shared three young children. André played for Penafiel in Portugal’s second division.

The Portuguese Football Federation expressed its deep sorrow, praising Jota’s talent, 49 international caps, and the joy he brought to the game. He was part of Portugal’s UEFA Nations League-winning squads in 2019 and 2025.

Rest in peace, Diogo and André. Forever remembered, never forgotten.
