Kyrstyn Johnson cherishes being a mom. In 2015, she gave birth to twin girls—born prematurely and at high risk for SIDS—but they grew up healthy and strong. Two years later, in 2017, she welcomed her son, Mayson Michael. He was a happy, thriving baby who hit all his milestones and brought endless joy to their family.
Then, just days before his 8-month birthday, tragedy struck. Mayson suddenly stopped breathing in his sleep and passed away from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Kyrstyn was shattered. The grief was overwhelming, and the emotional toll nearly unbearable.
In the midst of her pain, Kyrstyn made a brave decision—to honor Mayson’s life by spreading awareness about SIDS. She now shares her story to help educate other parents on the importance of safe sleep practices, especially making sure babies are always placed on their backs to sleep.
Her hope is that by speaking out, she can not only help prevent other families from facing the same heartbreak, but also remind grieving parents that they are not alone. Through Mayson’s memory, Kyrstyn encourages kindness, understanding, and greater compassion for the silent struggles many people carry.
She continues to celebrate her son’s life and uses his legacy to make a difference, one story at a time.
