Sometimes things look fine on the surface but still leave you uneasy—that’s how I feel about my girlfriend’s recent surgery. She’s recovering well, and I’m grateful, but the way everything unfolded still doesn’t sit right with me.
The surgery was supposed to be simple. Then the hospital suddenly rescheduled it a week before with a vague excuse. A few days later, they called again saying it would happen the next day. No explanation, no warning—just chaos.
I couldn’t be there because of work, which only added to my stress. Luckily, her sister and friend stayed with her, and the operation went smoothly. The staff did their job well, and her recovery has been good so far.
But even with a positive outcome, I can’t shake the feeling that something behind the scenes wasn’t handled properly. Maybe it was just scheduling issues. Maybe I’m overthinking. Still, when someone you love is involved, even small uncertainties hit hard.
I’m not blaming anyone—I just think it’s okay to admit when something feels off. Medical situations affect everyone, not just the patient.
As she continues to heal, I’m supporting her while also giving myself space to work through the leftover worries. Sometimes the emotional recovery is just as important.
