Beth Phelps, a joyful and spirited 12-year-old from Jersey, tragically lost her life to Ewing sarcoma, a rare bone cancer. Her parents, Ben and Aby, first noticed a lump on her shoulder while she was brushing her teeth in December 2020. Doctors soon discovered a tumor in her lung.
Beth endured months of intense treatment, including chemotherapy, major surgery to remove her shoulder blade, and radiotherapy. By September 2021, she was declared cancer-free—but the relief was short-lived. The cancer returned less than a year later, this time in her other shoulder. With no cure in sight, her family chose palliative care.
Beth passed away peacefully on October 3, 2022—just 12 days before her 13th birthday—surrounded by her parents, their dog, and cat.
To honor her memory, her father Ben is cycling across the UK to raise money for the Bone Cancer Research Trust. “Beth is my guiding light,” he shared. “We miss her every day, and we hope to help other families facing this heartbreaking disease.”
