For days, a little girl came to my door at noon, rang the bell, stared at the camera for a moment, then ran away. She was always neatly dressed, holding a small teddy bear.
At first, I thought it was harmless. But as it kept happening — with no adults in sight — I started to worry. Was she lost? Neglected?
I finally went to the police with the doorbell footage. They found her family and asked her mother to come in. What she said left me speechless.
Laughing, the woman explained, “We live nearby. My daughter insists on saying hello to you every day. You once gave her an apple when she fell down last summer — she’s never forgotten.”
It turned out my “mystery visitor” wasn’t in trouble at all — she was just a sweet little girl returning a simple act of kindness, one doorbell at a time.
