What was meant to be a fun, music-filled day at the Rock & Cars Festival in Lavaur, France, ended in tragedy when a massive tree branch suddenly crashed into the crowd.
Among those struck was beloved comedian Tony Knight, 54, who lost his life in the freak accident. Several others were injured, but Tony was the only fatality — a loss that has left fans and loved ones heartbroken.
Known for his humor, warmth, and love for animals, Tony had been preparing for a UK comedy tour and running dog-training workshops across Europe as “The Dog Listener.” His partner of 15 years, Hayley Wright, has launched a GoFundMe to help with expenses, which has already raised over $8,000.
Originally from England, Tony had been living in Australia and spent recent years on Hayley’s family farm in Beaufort. Friends and fans continue to share touching tributes online, remembering his laughter, kindness, and compassion.
Hayley plans to scatter his ashes in France — the place where his final performance of joy ended too soon. Tony Knight may be gone, but the laughter and love he shared will never fade.
