Mark August 2, 2027, for a rare total solar eclipse that will darken the sky for over six minutes—a show you likely won’t see again for nearly 100 years.
Called the “Great North African Eclipse,” the moon will completely cover the sun, turning day into night. Luxor, Egypt, offers the best view with the longest darkness. It’ll also be visible across parts of North Africa and Southern Europe.
This eclipse is special because it mainly crosses land and is one of the longest on record. While eclipses will occur in 2026 and 2028, none will last as long. After 2027, such a rare event won’t happen again in your lifetime.
