Prince Harry is facing a heartbreaking loss after Michael Brudenell-Bruce, the 8th Marquess of Ailesbury, died in a tragic accident at age 98.
According to reports, Brudenell-Bruce fell from his bedroom window while trying to rescue his cat, Honeybun, who had become stuck outside. He was found by his longtime partner of over 30 years, Teresa Marshall de Paoli, lying in a pool of blood after hitting his head on a concrete patio.
“It was a freak accident,” Teresa said, recalling the devastating scene.
The incident occurred late Sunday night in the Shepherd’s Bush area of West London. Emergency responders arrived quickly but pronounced him dead at the scene. Although police initially investigated the death as suspicious, it was ultimately ruled accidental.
Brudenell-Bruce’s sudden passing has left Teresa and his daughter, Lady Kathryn Brudenell Bruce, in deep mourning.
A former student at the prestigious Eton College, Brudenell-Bruce also served as a captain in the Royal Horse Guards and worked as a stockbroker. He was deeply respected by those who knew him, and his unexpected death has shocked and saddened family and friends alike.
