When Alex Lewis got sick in November 2013, he thought it was just the flu. Days later, his skin turned purple — a deadly, flesh-eating infection was destroying his body.
Doctors gave him only a 3% chance to live. As his wife, Lucy, prepared to say goodbye, Alex’s body began to fight back. Against all odds, he survived — but lost his arms, legs, and parts of his face. Surgeons even rebuilt his lips using skin from his shoulder, a medical first.
Coming home was tough. His young son, Sam, was frightened until Lucy told him his dad was turning into a Power Ranger — and that small story helped heal them both.
Now living with prosthetics, Alex has relearned how to move, eat, and live with fierce determination.
“He may have one elbow,” Lucy says, “but that’s his whole independence.”
Alex Lewis didn’t just survive — he started over, stronger than ever.
