After surviving a brutal attack by her husband in 2004, Connie Culp was left severely disfigured but never lost her spirit. She underwent dozens of surgeries and, in 2008, became the first American to receive a face transplant, regaining the ability to speak, eat, and smile.

Connie passed in 2020, remembered not for her suffering, but for her courage, resilience, and the hope she inspired in others.
