Late one night, a seven-year-old girl called the police because her parents wouldn’t wake up. Scared but calm, she stayed on the phone as officers rushed to her home.
She opened the door holding her stuffed bear and led them to her parents’ room. The officers found her parents unconscious and smelled gas — it was a carbon monoxide leak. They quickly opened windows, brought the parents outside, and called paramedics.
A police officer wrapped the little girl in a blanket, telling her how brave she was. Soon, her parents woke up and hugged her tightly, relieved and in tears.
Doctors later said her quick thinking saved their lives. The next day, police returned with a teddy bear and called her a real hero. Her parents installed detectors and never stopped telling her how proud they are of her courage.
