A Florida man who shot and killed an attacker assaulting a sheriff’s deputy will not face charges.
The State Attorney’s Office cleared 35-year-old Ashad Russell after he intervened on Interstate 75, shooting Edward Strother as he attacked Deputy Dean Bardes.
Russell, using his legal firearm, is credited with saving the deputy’s life. The 2017 case drew national attention, with many calling him a hero.
