Newly Found 9/11 Footage Offers Rare View

Nearly 23 years after the September 11 attacks, filmmaker Kei Sugimoto has released never-before-seen footage of the Twin Towers’ collapse. Discovered on old tapes in his closet, the video was shot from a rooftop on St. Marks Place in New York, capturing a rare north-side perspective as the towers billowed with smoke and fell.

Shared online in July 2023, the footage has sparked widespread reflection, with viewers noting how much unseen history may still be hidden in people’s homes. Sugimoto’s release adds a powerful new layer to the collective memory of that tragic day.
