The Eggs Beneath the Corn

Rancher Jack’s day began like any other—coffee in hand, boots on dry soil—until he reached his cornfield and froze. The crops were dead. Scattered across the dirt were strange, smooth, pale eggs unlike anything he’d ever seen.

His first instinct was to destroy them, but his daughters pleaded with him to wait.

Then the animals began acting strange. Chickens refused to leave the coop. One disappeared. The pigs paced nervously. At night, an eerie humming floated from the field. And when the barn cat limped home, trembling and injured, Jack’s unease deepened.

That evening, his daughter whispered, “The eggs are moving.”

As Jack watched the glowing shells pulse in the fading light, he knew—this wasn’t nature. Something was waking up. And whatever it was, their world would never be the same.
