“Chloe gave her summer to guide others — and gave her life protecting them. A quiet hero, now a guardian angel. Your light lives on.

At just 18, Chloe Childress was already a quiet leader — compassionate, selfless, and deeply devoted to helping others. A recent graduate of The Kinkaid School in Houston, she was set to attend the University of Texas at Austin. But before college, she chose to spend her summer serving as a counselor at Camp Mystic.

That’s where the flood took her.

As the Guadalupe River rose and chaos unfolded, Chloe didn’t run. She stayed — comforting and guiding the young girls in her care. She gave her life doing what she always did: putting others first.

“She lost her life upholding this fierce and selfless commitment to others,” her school’s headmaster said. Chloe was a runner, a student leader, and the founder of a senior service club. But more than anything, she was light.

Now, she’s an angel to the children she once protected — still guiding them, heart first. ❤️
