Couple with dwarfism have children against all the odds

Most couples are asked when they’ll have kids. For Charli Worgan and her husband Cullen, the question was always why.

Both living with different forms of dwarfism, the Sydney-based couple have faced their share of judgment—especially when Charli became pregnant. Strangers questioned their choices, often not realizing the love, thought, and courage behind them.

After the birth of their first daughter, Charli began sharing their life online. What started as a simple way to document their journey quickly grew into a community of over 300,000 people—drawn to their honesty, humor, and humanity.

Now parents of three, their path to parenthood has never been easy. Each pregnancy came with a 25% chance their baby could inherit both types of dwarfism—a combination that’s fatal. That meant undergoing painful and risky genetic tests like CVS, all while navigating fear and uncertainty.

“I was lining up for a massive needle through my abdomen,” Charli shared, “while others were out celebrating their 12-week scans.”

Their daughters, Tully and Tilba, each inherited one form of dwarfism and are thriving. But when Charli became pregnant again, the couple braced themselves for every possible outcome.

Despite harsh criticism from outsiders, Charli spoke with quiet strength:
“Bringing a child into this world with our odds is no simple decision.”

In February, they welcomed baby Rip—a healthy, joyful addition to their family.

Charli’s story reminds us that parenting isn’t about perfection—it’s about love, resilience, and showing up every single day, no matter what challenges lie ahead. Her journey may look different, but the heart of it is something every parent knows: wanting the best for your child, and doing everything you can to give it to them.
