After years of surgeries, setbacks, and hope, little Luna Fenner is finally seeing the results her family had long prayed for.
Known around the world as the girl with the “Batman Mask” — a nickname given due to a rare facial birthmark — Luna underwent a life-changing cosmetic surgery on June 20. She’s just five years old, but her journey has already been filled with courage and strength.
The surgery took place overseas, after Luna’s mother, Carol Fenner, tirelessly fought through visa hurdles to make it happen. The night before the operation, Carol posted a heartfelt message on social media:
“Tomorrow is a big day—Luna’s first cosmetic surgery. We’re hoping to fix her eyelids, which stay slightly open when she sleeps, and help her skin move more naturally. Luna is ready and excited. Please keep us in your prayers.”
Carol also thanked Dr. Olga, the surgeon who led the procedure, expressing deep gratitude and hope for a smooth outcome. And that hope was fulfilled — after five hours in surgery, Dr. Olga announced that they had successfully removed both the birthmark and existing scar tissue. An eyelid correction was also completed.
The next morning, Luna, her face gently bandaged, was already up and dancing — her mom shared a video of her beaming and full of life just 12 hours post-op. “She’s doing great,” Carol shared. Luna was expected to stay in the hospital for three more days.
Luna’s very first surgery happened when she was just six months old. Her parents eventually chose to continue her treatment abroad, where medical care was not only more advanced for her condition but also far more affordable — saving them nearly $200,000 compared to what they had been quoted in the U.S.
Now, after this latest operation, Luna’s future looks brighter than ever. Free from the physical and emotional weight of the birthmark, she’s stepping into the world with a fresh sense of confidence — and a smile that says it all.
