Pregnancy is never easy, but for one mom, Chelsea, it became a heartbreaking journey no parent could prepare for.
Her baby boy, Karson, was born with two rare, unrelated medical conditions: a brain hemorrhage and a severe genetic disorder called Non-ketotic hyperglycinemia (NKH), which doctors said would leave him with little to no neurological function—if he survived at all.
After being told Karson wouldn’t breathe on his own, his mother made the painful decision to take him off life support.
But then, something unexpected happened.
“As soon as the ventilator was removed, Karson began breathing on his own,” shared his grandmother, Lisa Hough, in a viral Facebook post. “His heart rate stabilized. His oxygen levels held. Doctors had no explanation—only that it was a miracle.”
Karson began doing what doctors said he never would: breathing, swallowing, even opening his eyes.
Just days later, the family received incredible news—Karson was strong enough to come home.
“I don’t know how long we’ll have him,” Lisa wrote, “but we have him now—and that’s everything.”
Tens of thousands of people online have celebrated Karson’s story, calling it nothing short of miraculous.
