Once again, we’re given a sacred opportunity this Lent to prepare our hearts for the mystery at the center of our faith—Jesus’ death and resurrection. It’s not just a past event but a living reality that can transform us, the more we open ourselves to its power with honesty and generosity.
True Christian joy is born from this Good News. Jesus’ sacrifice shows us a love that’s real, personal, and inviting. When we believe in this love, we no longer live for ourselves but in response to the God who created us for abundant life. Ignoring this truth can lead to emptiness, even despair—something we sadly see all around us.
During Lent, we’re invited to focus again on Christ’s outstretched arms. His mercy is always available—no matter how many times we fall. Through prayer and confession, we’re not just forgiven but made new. This season isn’t about religious obligation but about being drawn back into a deep relationship with God. Prayer softens our hearts and reminds us that we are loved even when we feel unworthy.
Let’s not let this time pass us by. Like Israel in the desert, we’re being called to listen for God’s voice and let it speak to the deepest part of us. Even amid the world’s suffering, God never gives up on us. In Jesus, God took on our burdens out of love—even loving his enemies.
That love isn’t meant to be kept to ourselves. When we center our lives on the Paschal Mystery, we begin to see Christ in the suffering around us—in war victims, the poor, the exploited, and the forgotten. Lent challenges us to give generously, not just financially but also by advocating for a more just and compassionate world.
This Lent, may we walk with Mary, open our hearts to God’s call, and become the salt and light this world so desperately needs.
