Brian Wilson, the visionary behind The Beach Boys’ signature sound and a driving force behind some of America’s most iconic summer songs, has died at the age of 82. His children announced his passing on June 11, 2025, through his official Instagram, asking for privacy during this difficult time. “We are heartbroken… please respect our privacy,” the statement read.
Wilson’s death comes a little over a year after the passing of his beloved wife, Melinda Ledbetter, in January 2024. He often called her his “savior” and “anchor,” crediting her with helping him through life’s toughest moments. The couple married in 1995, adopted five children together, and shared a deep bond. Wilson also had two daughters from a previous marriage.
With timeless hits like God Only Knows, Good Vibrations, and Wouldn’t It Be Nice, Wilson shaped the soundtrack of a generation. Beyond his musical genius, he and Melinda are remembered for their enduring love and commitment to family.
