Trump Heads to the Super Bowl—Without Melania
Former President Donald Trump became the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl, bringing son Eric, daughter-in-law Lara, daughter Ivanka, and 7-year-old grandson Theodore to Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday. But one familiar face was missing: former First Lady Melania Trump.
Her absence lit up social media. Users on X (formerly Twitter) wondered aloud why she skipped such a high-profile outing:
-
“Hmm! Where’s Melania? Has she even moved into the White House, or is she busy filing for divorce?”
-
“Melania is at home? Honestly, I can’t blame her.”
-
“Neither Melania nor Barron went with Trump to the Super Bowl. Some ‘family man.’ Melania isn’t living at the White House—or Mar-a-Lago.”
The reason Melania (and son Barron) stayed behind remains unclear. Ahead of kickoff, Trump issued a statement saying his wife “joins me in sending our best wishes for a great Super Bowl Sunday,” but offered no details.
