Prince William Reportedly Plans to Strip Meghan Markle and Prince Harry of Royal Titles
Prince William is reportedly furious over Meghan Markle’s recent use of her royal title—and sources claim he’s planning to take action once he becomes king.
According to a report by The Daily Beast, the Prince of Wales is prepared to strip Meghan and Prince Harry of their “His/Her Royal Highness” (HRH) titles after he inherits the throne from his father, King Charles III.

“Charles might tolerate it, but William definitely won’t,” a royal insider allegedly told the outlet. The source was referencing Meghan’s continued use of her royal title in connection with her lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard, which recently launched a line of high-end jams and sauces.
“He loathes Harry and Meghan with every bone in his body. He believes they’ve betrayed the royal family and that using their titles for personal branding is unacceptable,” the insider added.
The controversy reignited after Meghan appeared on a podcast earlier this week and sent a gift basket—including “homemade strawberry sauce”—to the host, Jamie Kern Lima. The basket included a note signed, “With the Compliments of HRH The Duchess of Sussex.” Both the basket and note were later shown on the podcast.
Critics claim Meghan’s use of the HRH title goes against an agreement made with the late Queen Elizabeth II, which allowed the couple to keep their HRH status but not use it for commercial purposes following their departure from royal duties in 2020.
One of Prince William’s friends reportedly believes Meghan’s actions are exploiting King Charles’ unwillingness to enforce boundaries.
“Charles has lost control,” the source said.
“It’s clear Harry and Meghan are intent on making his final years difficult. Meghan using the HRH title shows she knows he won’t act. But King William will. When the time comes, the titles will be gone—one way or another.”
However, a spokesperson for Meghan pushed back on the accusations, saying the gesture was purely personal and not a breach of any agreement.
“Harry and Meghan retain their HRH titles, but by agreement, they don’t use them for commercial purposes,” the source said.
“This was a personal gift, not a business promotion. Their titles remain intact.”
