Michelle Obama, 61, Stuns in a Tailored Black Suit During Book Tour Talk with Tina Knowles
Michelle Obama lit up social media with her stylish appearance at the first stop of Tina Knowles’ book tour, held at The Theater at MGM National Harbor. Dressed in a sharp black suit, the former First Lady joined Tina for a heartfelt conversation celebrating Tina’s new memoir, Matriarch: A Memoir.
Michelle shared photos from the night on Instagram, showing the two women side-by-side in sophisticated looks. Tina wowed in a black sheer-sleeved dress with a sculptural overlay and silver base. Her auburn hair was parted to the side, and she accessorized with elegant earrings and a diamond bracelet.
Michelle looked powerful and poised in a double-breasted black blazer and straight-leg pants. Her high braided ponytail, silver rings, and statement earrings completed the chic ensemble. Fans were quick to flood the comments with praise.
“Michelle’s tall silhouette and that tailored suit is EVERYTHING!!!” one follower gushed. “That suit is fire 🔥,” another wrote. “She looks incredible!”
Some users also noticed Michelle’s slimmed-down figure, with mixed reactions. “Michelle has lost weight but she looks great due to her height 😍,” one person noted. Others expressed concern: “Is Mrs. Obama okay? She’s lost a lot of weight,” someone commented. Another added, “It took me a second to realize that was Michelle.”
In a video clip, Michelle and Tina were seen line dancing to “Boots on the Ground,” showing off their playful energy. Michelle captioned it, “Tina, thank you for your honesty, your humor, and your heart. Matriarch is more than a memoir — it’s a love letter to Black women, our families, and the strength that binds us.”
She also gave a shout-out to singer Ledisi and mentioned that her podcast In My Opinion, co-hosted with her brother Craig Robinson, will feature their full conversation with Tina soon.
Tina shared her own photos and memories from the night, calling the event a dream come true. “To be in conversation with Michelle Obama, in front of a room full of powerful, loving, hilarious Black women — unforgettable,” she wrote.
Later that evening, Tina posted again, saying she was “still walking on cloud nine,” adding, “We laughed, we cried, we danced. It was honest, real, and full of joy.”
Her tour is set to continue in cities like Los Angeles (moderated by Keke Palmer with a performance by Jennifer Hudson), New Orleans with Tamron Hall, Houston with Kelly Rowland, and Atlanta with Tyler Perry.
Matriarch hit shelves on April 22 and is already a #1 New York Times bestseller. It’s currently ranked #9 and available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and independent bookstores across the country — including signed editions.
Michelle and Tina’s event also comes just days after Michelle addressed rumors about her marriage to Barack Obama during an appearance on Diary of a CEO. When asked about the speculation, Michelle didn’t hold back: “If I were having problems with my husband, everybody would know about it,” she said with a laugh. Her brother chimed in, “If they were having issues, I’d be doing a podcast with Barack.”
Safe to say — the Obamas are just fine. And Michelle? She’s still serving elegance, wit, and wisdom like nobody else.
