Australian Woman Survives 360-Foot Fall into Crocodile-Infested Waters After Bungee Cord Snaps

What was meant to be a once-in-a-lifetime thrill nearly ended in tragedy when Australian traveler Erin Langworthy’s bungee cord snapped mid-jump — sending her plunging 360 feet into the crocodile-infested Zambezi River.

The incident occurred in 2012 while Langworthy was visiting Zambia and decided to take on the adrenaline-pumping challenge of bungee jumping from a bridge above the powerful river, which borders Zambia and Zimbabwe and is known for its strong currents — and its crocodiles.

Video footage of the terrifying moment shows Langworthy free-falling into the river after her cord snapped. Despite being dragged downstream by the current and entangled in the cord, Langworthy miraculously managed to keep herself afloat — all while her feet were still tied together.

At one point, the cord snagged on underwater rocks, making it even harder for her to break free. Langworthy eventually freed herself and continued to swim until she was rescued by a staff member from the bungee company.

She was immediately rushed to a hospital in nearby Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, where she received treatment.

Somehow, Langworthy walked away from the ordeal alive — surviving both the massive fall and the threat of crocodiles in the water.

Her story has since become a viral reminder of both the risks of extreme sports and the importance of safety equipment — as well as the sheer will to survive against all odds.
