Taylor Swift during Eagles’ visit to the White House

Eagles Celebrate Super Bowl Win at White House Without Star Quarterback Jalen Hurts — Trump Takes Swipe at Taylor Swift

Following their Super Bowl victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in February, the Philadelphia Eagles visited the White House on Monday to be honored by President Donald Trump.

Although most of the team attended the event, several players were notably absent—including Super Bowl MVP and star quarterback Jalen Hurts. According to the White House, Hurts and other missing players had “scheduling conflicts.”

During his speech, President Trump praised the team’s performance and singled out Hurts, calling him a “terrific player.” He also highlighted the Eagles’ controversial “tush push” play and gave a shout-out to running back Saquon Barkley before inviting players like Lane Johnson to speak at the podium.

However, Trump’s tone shifted when he brought up pop star Taylor Swift, who has been dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Swift has drawn attention for attending several of Kelce’s games, sparking debate among fans over her presence at the spotlight-heavy events.

Reflecting on the Super Bowl matchup between the Eagles and the Chiefs, Trump called the game “a little surprising” but “an incredible game.” He emphasized that he was in attendance at the game in New Orleans on February 9—marking the first time a sitting U.S. president has ever been present at a Super Bowl.

“I was there along with Taylor Swift,” Trump noted, before sarcastically adding, “How did that work out?”

The remark appeared to be a continuation of Trump’s ongoing criticism of Swift. In September 2024, he posted “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT” on his social platform Truth Social after the singer endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris in the presidential race.

The following day, he appeared on Fox & Friends and told viewers, “I was not a Taylor Swift fan. It was just a question of time. … But she’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat. And she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.”

NBC News White House correspondent Yamiche Alcindor confirmed Monday morning that Hurts would not be joining his teammates at the White House ceremony. She tweeted:

“A White House official confirms to me that @Eagles quarterback @JalenHurts will not be visiting the White House when the Super Bowl champions come later this afternoon. The White House says Hurts and other players who can’t attend had ‘scheduling conflicts.’”

Despite the absences, the celebration went on, with players and officials gathering to mark the team’s 2025 championship win.
