Blake Shelton Grants a Final Wish to 12-Year-Old Fan
In March 2025, country star Blake Shelton paused his Friends & Heroes tour to fulfill the final wish of 12-year-old Emily Harper, a leukemia patient at the Jimmy Everest Center in Oklahoma. Emily’s dream was simple yet profound: to hear Shelton sing her favorite song, “God Gave Me You.”
On March 10, Shelton arrived at her hospital room with his guitar in hand. In an emotional acoustic set, he performed “Austin,” “Honey Bee,” and, of course, “God Gave Me You,” filling the room with smiles, tears, and a sense of hope. Emily, clutching a teddy bear she had named after him, lit up with joy during the visit.
Shelton, known for his heartfelt gestures and longtime support of causes like cancer research, disaster relief, and music education, made sure Emily’s wish came true.
Emily passed away ten days later. During a concert in Greensboro, Shelton dedicated “God Gave Me You” to her memory, telling the crowd, “She’s not with us anymore, but I know she’s up there listening.”
In giving Emily a few precious moments of light and love, Shelton reminded everyone of the lasting impact a single act of kindness can have.
