He called Tom. “On my way.” No questions. No hesitation.
At the house, Shane’s bravado crumbled the moment Jeremiah knocked. The drunken confidence vanished under the silent authority of two Marines.
“I need to speak with my daughter,” Jeremiah said. Emily appeared, relief flooding her face as he held her tight.
“This ends now. You leave. Emily deserves to feel safe at home.”
