The village was stunned when a young man returned from the city with a wife no one had met—her face hidden entirely by bandages.
“Son… what happened to her?” his mother asked.
“Don’t ask. Just accept her as my wife,” he said.
She rarely left the house, and neighbors whispered rumors. One night, the parents peeked inside and saw her scars—she had been badly burned saving him from a fire years ago.
“I didn’t love her face,” he said, “I loved her heart.”
