Ramprasad, an old man in worn clothes, walked to the bank every morning, unnoticed. One day, he asked to see the manager with an old envelope—and was turned away.
The next day, he returned with a lawyer. The envelope revealed he was heir to a vast fortune.
“You ignored him because of his clothes,” the lawyer said.
“I didn’t come for wealth,” Ramprasad replied. “I only wanted to help poor children. But kindness seems to need fine clothes to be heard.”
The bank changed. Empathy training began, and his words were later hung on the wall:
“Never let the shine of someone’s shoes decide the weight of their words.”
The man they once ignored taught a city to listen.
