Every night at 8 p.m., Daniela locked herself in the bathroom for over an hour. The water ran nonstop, and sometimes a hint of men’s cologne drifted through the hall.
Her mother-in-law tried to ignore it, but when she heard a man’s voice behind the door, panic took over — and she called the police.
When officers arrived, Daniela opened the door in shock. There was no man, only steam. Tearfully, she explained, “It’s my brother, Marco. He’s been homeless. I let him shower here at night so he wouldn’t feel ashamed.”
Guilt turned to relief. The mother-in-law apologized, and Marco was welcomed into the family.
What began as suspicion ended as a lesson in empathy — sometimes love, not betrayal, hides behind closed doors.
