School Bus Crash Injures Multiple Children After Tire Blowout in South Carolina
A terrifying bus crash in South Carolina on Thursday left several middle school students injured after their bus flipped while returning from a field trip. The vehicle, carrying 35 students and two adults from Pine Ridge Middle School, was traveling along I-77 when it suffered a tire blowout, causing the driver to lose control and the bus to overturn.
The crash triggered an urgent emergency response. Five medical helicopters were dispatched to the scene, along with paramedics and rescue teams, to treat and transport the injured. Several children were rushed to nearby hospitals for care, though officials have not yet released the number of serious injuries.
Aerial footage from the scene showed the bus lying on its side across multiple lanes of highway traffic, a stark image that captured the scale of the accident. Traffic came to a standstill as emergency crews worked quickly to free passengers who were trapped inside.
Eyewitnesses described the aftermath as chaotic and heartbreaking, with students in shock and first responders moving fast to get everyone to safety. “It looked like something out of a nightmare,” one driver said.
Authorities are now investigating what caused the tire to blow and whether additional mechanical issues may have contributed to the crash. The Pine Ridge community has been left shaken by the incident, and local officials are asking for prayers and support for the students and families affected.
