Meghan Markle Shares Rare Photo of Prince Archie for His 6th Birthday: “Where Did the Time Go?”
Meghan Markle is celebrating a big milestone—her son Prince Archie’s golden birthday! On May 6, the Duchess of Sussex marked her son’s 6th birthday by posting a touching tribute on Instagram.
The sweet photo shows Archie from behind, standing on a balcony and gazing at the sunset. The sun appears to form a glowing halo around his head as it dips into the ocean.
“Our son. Our sun,” Meghan wrote in the caption. “Happy 6th birthday to Archie!”
She continued, “Thank you for all of the love, prayers, and warm wishes for our sweet boy. He’s six! Where did the time go?”
Meghan also hinted at how the family celebrated, adding, “And for all of you who came to celebrate with us at his party last weekend, thank you for making his birthday so incredibly special.”
Prince Archie was born in London on May 6, 2019, to Meghan, 43, and Prince Harry, 40. His full name, Archie Harrison, carries meaning: “Archie” is a nod to qualities like honesty and courage, while “Harrison” literally means “son of Harry”—a subtle tribute to his dad.
Like his father, Archie has inherited a signature trait—his red hair!
Though Archie was born into royalty, he and his younger sister, Princess Lilibet, are being raised far from the royal spotlight in Montecito, California. Meghan occasionally shares glimpses of their family life on her Instagram page @meghan, along with updates from her lifestyle brand @aseverofficial.
In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Meghan revealed that Archie shares a favorite breakfast with Prince Harry—fried eggs—and even helped on the set of her Netflix series With Love, Meghan, which premiered in March. “Archie did the [filming clapboard]! Sweet moments,” she said.
She added, “They would come with my husband and visit me on set, and I loved that my children could see me working. It was really special. Until then, they hadn’t really seen what I do.”
Just this weekend, Meghan also posted another candid photo—this time of Prince Harry, Archie, and Lilibet walking hand-in-hand in their lush garden. The warm family update came after Harry’s headline-making interview with the BBC, following his failed legal appeal for the reinstatement of publicly funded security.
Even with royal drama in the headlines, Meghan and Harry continue focusing on what matters most: their kids, their family, and building a life that’s all their own.
