Justin Blackmon Needed Larger Cop Car After Public Intoxication Arrest
Former college football standout Justin Blackmon had a run-in with police over the weekend—and it made headlines not just for the arrest, but because he couldn’t fit in the back of a standard patrol car.
According to a police report obtained by TMZ Sports, the 35-year-old ex-Oklahoma State wide receiver was arrested for public intoxication early Saturday morning. Officers said they had to call for a larger vehicle to transport him to jail due to his size.
The incident began around 1:32 AM when Oklahoma State University police responded to a call about a “larger black male” lying on the ground. By the time they arrived, the man—later identified as Blackmon—had gotten up and wandered into a campus building.
When officers approached him, they noticed he was unsteady, smelled strongly of alcohol, and had wet clothing. He reportedly told them he was walking home, but his speech was slurred and incoherent.
At one point, Blackmon repeatedly said he was going to “Stillwater.” When police clarified that Stillwater is a city, not a specific address, he admitted, “You got me.”
Blackmon then turned around, put his hands behind his back, and was arrested. Due to his size, officers used two sets of handcuffs and noted he couldn’t fit in the back of a regular patrol car. A second unit with a larger vehicle had to be dispatched to take him to jail.
Police listed Blackmon at 6’2″ and 230 pounds—about 20 pounds heavier than his playing weight during his football career.
Once a top NFL prospect, Blackmon was selected fifth overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2012 Draft after a standout career at Oklahoma State. However, his pro career was cut short after multiple suspensions for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.
