Tragedy has struck the family of reality TV star Whitney Purvis. Her oldest son, 16-year-old Weston Gosa Jr., was found unresponsive at home and later pronounced dead on June 2, 2025. The heartbreaking news was shared by his stepmother, Amy Gosa, in a deeply emotional Facebook post.
“It’s really hard to write this, but this morning little Weston passed away,” Amy wrote. “We don’t know the cause yet—an autopsy is being performed. All we know is we went to wake him up around 7 a.m., and he wasn’t breathing. We tried CPR and called an ambulance.”
Paramedics rushed to the home and attempted to revive Weston before transporting him to a local hospital in Gordon County, Georgia, where he was officially declared dead.
A Young Life Cut Short
According to Amy, Weston had been dealing with multiple health issues, including diabetes. She described the loss as “completely heartbreaking and shocking,” adding, “Losing a child is the most painful thing I’ve ever experienced, and I hope I never go through it again.”
She remembered Weston as an extraordinary young man—bright, funny, and full of potential. “It still doesn’t feel real,” she said.
Amy ended her message by asking for prayers for both her family and for Whitney Purvis, who first gained public attention on MTV’s 16 and Pregnant.
Whitney Purvis Shares Her Grief
Shortly after the news broke, Whitney took to Facebook to share her own raw, emotional tribute to her son.
“This is so hard to write… He was only 16,” she wrote. “Life is so cruel and unfair. I just don’t understand. My baby is gone and I don’t know what to do with myself. He was so perfect. This is my worst nightmare come true.”
Whitney poured out her heartbreak, saying she couldn’t imagine life without Weston. “He was my heart. I’m so proud of the young man he was becoming. I love him so much. He was my angel.”
She also changed her profile photo to one of her smiling alongside Weston, writing: “Rest in Peace, my baby Weston. I love you forever. I’ll never understand why life has to be so cruel. You’ll always be my baby.”
A Journey Shared in the Spotlight
Weston’s life journey began in front of cameras. Whitney and her former partner, Weston Gosa Sr., welcomed him in April 2009, a moment documented on the first season of MTV’s 16 and Pregnant. Her episode followed her pregnancy, which ended in a C-section after doctors became concerned about the baby’s reduced movements and oxygen levels.
Despite the challenges, Weston was born healthy, and Whitney embraced motherhood at a young age. Over the years, she continued to share parts of her life on social media, including the births of her second son, River, in 2014, and her third child, Collin Adonis, in 2023.
Legal Struggles and Personal Challenges
In recent years, Whitney faced legal and financial troubles. In 2024, she was briefly jailed for failing to pay court-ordered child support. Documents showed she owed back payments, and custody of her two oldest children had been granted to Weston Sr. A judge ordered her to serve 48 hours in jail and increased her monthly payment to $353.
Mourning a Devastating Loss
Despite her public struggles, Whitney’s love for her children has always been evident. The sudden loss of Weston has left her—and the entire family—shattered.
As they grieve, friends, fans, and members of the community are rallying around them with messages of support and condolences, remembering Weston as a bright, funny teen who had his whole life ahead of him.
While questions remain about what caused his unexpected death, one thing is certain: Weston Gosa Jr.’s memory lives on in the hearts of those who loved him.
