A tragic shooting early Sunday morning, June 1, turned a house party into a nightmare in the Mountain View community near Hickory, North Carolina. One person was killed and eleven others were injured in the violence, which broke out just after 12:45 a.m. on Walnut Acres Drive, according to the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office.

About 100 people, including children, were attending a pool party when gunfire erupted outside the home, affecting both the front and back yards. The chaotic scene even extended into a neighboring yard, creating a large and active crime scene.

Authorities confirmed that multiple firearms were involved in the shooting. One person died at the scene, another is in critical condition, and several others remain hospitalized. So far, no suspects have been identified, and no arrests have been made.

The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office is working closely with the State Bureau of Investigation and other local agencies to get answers. Investigators are asking anyone with information to come forward by calling 828-464-3112.
